Sometimes there are lighthearted moments that remind us of how we search for the clarity and meaning of words. A couple was dining at a Chinese restaurant with their parents. The in-laws began a good-spirited debate about the correct pronunciation of Szechuan beef. After several minutes of disagreement, the father of the bride called the waitress over and asked, “how do you pronounce this”, while pointing to the item on the menu labeled Szechuan beef. The waitress looked at him, and in broken English said, “number 68.”
